One of the most popular attractions near Oamaru, the Moeraki Boulders are actually called concretions, a hard solid mass formed by the local accumulation of matter. Stunning beach and boulders, some as big as three arm span. Great to visit on your way south the Moeraki Boulders are a must see when visiting Oamaru, located 35 minutes from Century House B&B.
The Elephant Rocks near Duntroon in North Otago, New Zealand, are a collection of large weathered limestone rocks. They are located on a private farm 5 kilometres south of Duntroon, in the Maerewhenua Valley. Entry fee is a $5 honesty fee at the gate. The Elephant rocks are situated only 30 minutes inland from Century House Bed and Breakfast, see if you can spot the elephants!
Oamaru is finish to the Alps to Ocean Cycle Trail. Alps to Ocean Cycle trail runs all the way from Mt Cook Aoraki National Park and runs through The Makenzie and Waitaki Valley to the finish at Oamaru. The Cycle trail is suitable for all abilities.
