Accommodation Room Options & Facilities
The Century House accommodation is attached to the main building where your hosts live. Your accommodation is split over two floors. Upstairs, there are two well-equipped bedrooms and a bathroom. Downstairs is the living area, with doors that open out onto the outdoor area with a beautiful garden and outdoor seating with mountain views.
Upstairs, the main bedroom, the Waitaki room, is decorated in creamy yellows and purple colours. It has a king bed plus a king-single bed, both with crisp, fine bedlinen. This bedroom is suitable for a maximum of three people. The second bedroom, the Western room, is set up as a twin, with two king-size single beds, suitable for a maximum of two people. It's decorated in bright colours, also has crisp, fine bedlinen and has comfortable chairs for relaxing in after a day of exploring. Both bedrooms share the bathroom.
Downstairs, the dining facilities include a well equipped kitchenette (not a full kitchen therefore no oven) with a fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle, air fryer, toasted sandwich maker, cutlery and crockery. The kitchenette includes non perishables like tea/coffee/sugar/milo/salt/pepper.
The living area has comfortable lounge seating and a flat-screen TV with streaming services.

You'll be sent a separate email with the ability to add any optional extras after your booking. Please note we require at least 24 hours notice to prepare food for you. All food is cooked fresh in house by your host Dawn, an experienced chef.

How close is Century House to the town centre, Heritage Centre and Penguins?
We're easy to find just off the SH1 as you enter Oamaru and only around 2km to the main high street, Steam Punk and the Heritage Centre. The Penguin colony is 1km further around the bay at the end of the wharf, about 3.2km from here.
Is Century House still a B&B?
Because of the volume of bookings, we now focus on accommodation with the option to add breakfast if you choose. Our breakfasts are as good as any of the local cafe's and you don't need to drive!
Do you have wheelchair access?
Unfortunately not. The bathroom and bedrooms are upstairs.
There are more than 5 of us, can we bring sleeping bags?
Unfortunately not. Our insurance is clear, a maximum of 5 people between the 2 bedrooms, no exceptions.
Are children allowed?
Yes, we have 2 kids ourselves (adults now) so love kids. Children under 5 are free. Children are included in the maximum number of 5 people. Please not that although we allow children, the accommodation is over 2 stories, with stairs, and it is not child proofed. You are responsible for the safety of your children on the premises.
Is smoking allowed?
The accommodation is strictly NON smoking. Smokers must smoke outside away from the property to avoid smoke blowing inside.
Can we bring pets?
Sorry but no. Due to allergy issues, NO animals are allowed into the property. We have 2 cats on the grounds, they are not allowed inside (do NOT let them in) but if you have a severe cat allergy, consider this before you book.
Are there laundry facilities?
There are no laundry facilities but we are able to wash laundry for you at $5 per load. We have no tumble dryer but you are welcome to hang clothes on the line outside to dry.
